Digging Deeper
2nd Timothy 2:15 says,
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (NKJV)
This verse is for all of us, but how do we do this? How do we “rightly divide the Word of Truth”? According to Strong’s Concordance, to “rightly divide” is to hold a straight course; doing right; to teach truth directly and correctly. So, do we just read the Scriptures and meditate on them? That would be good for devotions, but the Scripture clearly says, “Study” and uses the term “workman”. In Greek, the word “study” means to exert one’s self, to endeavor, to give diligence and the word “workman” means a laborer, someone who labors. We must exert ourselves and labor to hold a straight course, doing right. Then we are to teach truth directly and correctly. In order to accomplish this, we must go beyond just reading the scriptures. We must dig deeper by studying the Scriptures with a new zeal!

About the Author
Margie Balcos wrote SOW’ers by the grace of God for those believers who are ready to dig deeper into their study of the Word. Wife and mother to six, she served thirteen years as a children’s ministry director of her church. Using her creative gifts, she began to write many curriculums for the children of that church.
Then the Lord moved on her heart for the women of the church. She began leading women’s studies and there her thirst for His Word began to grow beyond the typical women’s studies available.
After years serving the women, she began to notice that the accessible studies for women were lacking a real depth and those that would seem deeper were not user-friendly.
Using all of her past experiences and her need for simple structure, the Lord began to show her a way to see Him more clearly through a deeper study into His Word. Thus, SOW’ers (Students of the Word) was born.
It is her hope and desire that this study will spur you to dig into the Word and see Our Lord and Savior’s amazing love, unearned grace, and precious sacrifice.
